When specifically mentioned, gene modifications such
as point mutations or deletions are made for the purpose of generating
functional specific moieties. These include forms of constitutively active, dominant
negative, or lacking certain protein-protein interaction domains. Such
modifications are based upon literatures with established functional
outcome, facilitating detailed studies on signaling pathways and
protein function validation. Again, any modifications on gene
sequences will be confirmed by sequencing.
For genes provided by our customer in a plasmid, we ask sequence
information from our customer, in the format of GB or plain text. Then scientists at Applied Viromics
will clone the gene to our shuttle plasmids for vector production (see the shuttle construction section).
We encourage our customers to order recombinant
viral vectors by simply providing the Genbank ID of the gene. We will then clone the gene and prepare the viral
vector.
